Château Malescasse has just announced the date for the presentation of the “Petit Verdot de Malescasse 2009”. It will be on March 29, first day of the Primeur’s professional tasting in Bordeaux. With particularly flattering black fruits and a deep ruby color, this Petit Verdot de Malescasse 2009 will charm Bordeaux wines’ lovers. This exceptional year made it possible for Château Malescasse to make a wine of great complexity with the Petit Verdot grape variety whose blackberries and violet aromas prevail in 2009.
Vigorous and spicy, with deliciously ripened and elegant tannins, the Petit Verdot grape variety always had a very strong personality at Château Malescasse. In 2009, the exceptional result of the vines planted with Petit Verdot on one of the best gravelly hilltops encouraged Antonio Flores and Bertrand Chemin, respectively Head of the Vineyard and Cellar Master at Château Malescasse, to present this new wine. “The idea of this 100% Petit Verdot wine is very simple. Very early in the season, we noticed that the wines at Château Malescasse were remarkable. The exceptional quality obtained in 2009 allowed us to make this wine which will give everyone the pleasure to discover the beauty of this vintage and the unique expression of Petit Verdot planted on a beautiful terroir. Each year, this grape variety surprises us with its generosity and its aromatic complexity. Here at Malescasse, we are convinced we have a unique adequacy between Petit Verdot and our terroir.”
About Château Malescasse
The vineyard surrounding the château is situated on one of the best gravelly hilltops to be found between Margaux and St Julien Beychevelle, near the river, which makes it an exceptional quality growing area with deep, well drained soil. All the necessary elements are there: climate tempered by the proximity of the river, a noble "terroir", proven technical input and, most important, the respect and savoir-faire of the men who work under Georges Pauli. Without the necessary intimacy between man and nature, it is impossible to make a great wine.
